THE QUALITY OF OUR TEACHERS

ANOO MUKHERJEE VIOLIN:

We love our amazing teachers, and are so happy to see their successes! Violin instructor Anoo Mukherjee has taught violin and piano at the studio for three years, and now, having completed her Ph.D. program at New York University, she will be taking a position as Assistant Professor of Musicology at Washington and Jefferson College in Pittsburgh.

Anoo will be teaching undergraduate courses on Western music history and theory, while working towards a forthcoming publication on twentieth-century American composers.
We are incredibly proud of Anoo and all that she has accomplished, and wish her the very best in this new chapter!  Anoo truly exemplified the spirit of our teachers, and will be greatly missed!

DUSTIN KAUFMAN DRUMS:

With great excitement, we’d like to announce that our teacher Dustin Kaufman will be the new drummer for buzz-worthy band St. Lucia on their upcoming “When The Night” tour of North America! This achievement is a true testament to the high level of teachers we are fortunate to have at the school. Their passion for music and performance both in and out of lessons is exactly what makes them the fantastic instructors that they are.

St. Lucia is signed with Colombia Records and continues to play to sold out venues across the US and Canada. To check them out performing on Jimmy Kimmel, click here! (This video is with another drummer - we wanted everyone to hear how great the band is!)

Needless to say, Dustin is an amazing musician and teacher who graduated from the Manhattan School of Music with a degree in Jazz Performance, and then went on to pursue his masters in Music Education at Columbia University. His students can attest to the fact that he brings endless creativity and enthusiasm to his lessons and bands, and has been such a positive role model for us all.

Though we will miss him during his time away, we are all extremely excited for Dustin and wish him the best of luck with this incredible endeavor. Along with his students we are all looking forward to seeing Dustin soon, and and in the meantime hopefully getting a chance to see one of St. Lucia's high energy shows.   → www.stlucianewyork.com

SOME OF OUR STUDENTS' ACCOMPLISHMENTS

It was only two years ago that our drum student MALACHI SAMEDY was included in Huffington Post’s list of The 12 Most Talented and Tiny Child Prodigies! He is the youngest student to date that we have taught at MMM, starting his formal studies with us at only four years old. This year Malachi's path took a bit of a new direction as he auditioned as was chosen, out of a total of 22,000 kids, to be part the new Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical, "School of Rock".

Our Solo Artist Program is unique and exclusive to our school. The program showcases students who study both voice and an instrument at the school. It provides the unique opportunity to combine disciplines and to hone the skills as solo performers. Watch this beautiful video of ELOISE WENDT singing and playing "Carolina In My Mind" by James Taylor" from our James Taylor, Carole King themed show in March of 2015 at Rockwood Music Hall in NYC.

OUR UNIQUE AND EXCLUSIVE
GUEST ARTIST SERIES

All of our music students have regular access to concerts with some of the world's most accomplished musicians through our unique Guest Artist Series. Students and their families can attend numerous exclusive performances throughout the year, each giving them the chance to watch and listen direct and up front, to ask questions, and engage in a dialogue with artists who are otherwise home on some of the biggest stages in the world.

Our Guest Artists have included musicians like Gretchen Parlato & Alan Hampton, Ben Allison, Jonathan Kreisberg, Rebecca Martin, Larry Grenadier, Gilad Hekselman & Joe Martin, Becca Stevens, Ben Monder, and many more.
