At Mark Murphy’s Music, studying music is more than a weekly lesson — it’s about joining a creative community where students are supported as their abilities, interests, and confidence grow. MMM balances technique and creativity through lessons tailored to each student’s personality and musical goals, while also offering opportunities to perform, collaborate, write, record, and explore new directions through Pop & Rock Band programs, Singer/Songwriter development, and Audio Engineering in the MMM Recording Studio.

01: One-on-One & Early Starters

Help your child build a strong musical foundation with personalized instruction, thoughtful guidance, and age-appropriate early learning.

  • Private Music Lessons

Private lessons are the heart of MMM and the foundation of each student’s musical growth. Our teaching methodology develops the building blocks of music through note reading, theory, ear training, technique, repertoire, and creativity. This supports beginner to advanced students while focusing on each student’s personality, goals, and musical interests.

  • Little MMMs Program

Little MMMs reimagines the MMM private lesson experience for younger students ages 5–7. The program introduces music in a supportive, age-appropriate way that helps children build confidence, curiosity, and early musical skills. It’s a great way to jumpstart the lesson experience, and families are encouraged to reach out to see if their child is a good fit.

  • Guitar Start-Up Program

This starter program gives young students ages 5-6, a fun and approachable first experience with guitar. Using the Loog guitar, children can begin making music without the complexity of a full-size instrument and/or more advanced technique. Designed to build excitement, confidence, and early musical connection before moving into deeper guitar study later on.

02: Performance & Live Experience

Give students the chance to grow beyond the lesson room through collaboration, rehearsal, and meaningful live performance experiences.

  • MMM Band Program

Our Band Program takes the progress students make in one-on-one lessons and brings it to life through rehearsal, collaboration, and live performance. Student bands learn songs from a wide range of styles, helping each player build confidence, skills, and stage experience. The program gives students a musical setting where they can grow as performers while experiencing the energy of playing with others.

  • Guitar-Experience Program

The Guitar Experience is designed for students who already have some playing experience and want to go deeper on the instrument. The program expands technique, musical confidence, and performance readiness through structured guitar-centered development. It gives students a focused path to strengthen their playing, explore new styles, and become more expressive, capable guitarists.

  • Performance Showcases

Student Showcases are special performance opportunities created for MMM singers and instrumentalists. Students prepare a song for these concerts with teacher accompaniment or a teacher-led band, giving them the chance to perform in a supportive, elevated setting. These showcases help students build stage presence, confidence, and a deeper connection to performance, while creating meaningful moments to celebrate their musical growth.

03: Create & Record

Support each student’s creative voice through songwriting, production, and hands-on studio experiences that bring their musical ideas to life.

  • Solo Artist Program

The Solo Artist Program is designed for students who are deeply interested in singer/songwriting and want to combine voice, instrument study, and artistic direction. Students who take both voice and instrumental lessons are supported as they develop their own sound, prepare original material, and grow into more complete performers. Past students have performed at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City and The Owl Music Parlor in Brooklyn.

  • Songwriting Program

The Songwriting Program helps students understand how great songs are built. Students analyze the lyrical, melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic tools used in classic pop songwriting, then apply those ideas to their own original work. The program gives developing writers a stronger creative foundation and a clearer path for shaping their musical ideas into complete songs. It’s a focused space for students to find their voice as songwriters.

  • Audio Engineering Program

The Audio Engineering Program is designed for students interested in recording, mixing, and music production. Students gain hands-on studio experience while learning the tools, workflows, and listening skills used in professional recording environments. The program gives students a practical introduction to the production side of music and helps them understand how songs move from performance to finished recording.
